Protein and carbohydrate shakes

Several studies have shown that those who drink a shake containing protein and carbohydrates after a workout speeds up recovery after exercise. That accelerates anabolic mechanism at the cellular level. Shake's effects correlate with increased enzyme activity, the release of insulin and increasing blood flow, after exercise.
A new study focused on the use of protein shakes and carbohydrate during extreme conditions. Stress meant 54 days of basic training for recruits of the U.S. Navy units. Intense training in military camps is associated with muscle soreness, fatigue, dehydration and other problems. Recruits who drank concentrated protein after military training were less dehydrated, had 33% fewer doctor visits, fewer problems with infections with bacteria or viruses, less problems with muscles and joints and 83% fewer events because of the heat exhaustion, compared to the control group who did not drink protein shakes
Why these protein drinks taken after training, also produce health improvement is not clear, although the authors offered several theories. Important is that now we know that the positive effects of protein shakes are numerous and improve health, not just recovery and muscle growth.
